Selangor Guide

Selangor state surrounds the federal territory of Kuala Lumpur city and is hailed as the gateway to Malaysia. Many of the state’s attractions – such as the Batu Caves, FRIM (Canopy Walk), and Zoo Negara are popular day trip destinations from Kuala Lumpur city.

The magnificent Kota Darul Ehsan Arch along the Federal Highway welcomes visitors driving into the state. This Moorish-styled arch is the state’s most distinguishing landmark, erected to mark the ceding of Kuala Lumpur to the Federal Government in 1974.

Shah Alam, Selangor’s capital, has the distinction of harmonizing nature with modernization; residential areas and commercial centers are set admist lush landscapes and a sprawling lake. Shopping malls can be found all over the capital as well as in Petaling Jaya.

There’s so much to see and do in Selangor, for those with a little more time to spend, Bukit Fraser offers amazing stopovers; a pleasantly cool hill-station which straddles the state’s border with Pahang, and the old royal capital Kuala Selangor with its wildlife watching and authentic kampong Malaysia atmosphere.

This is Selangor, gateway to Malaysia!
