Shopping VAT Tax Refund

Question: How do i claim VAT (Value added tax) refund for my shopping purchases in Malaysia?


Answer: Currently there is no Value Added Tax (VAT) for shopping purchases in Malaysia but it is expected that a consumption tax similar to VAT will be introduced by integrating the existing sales tax and service tax into a single base tax to be called Sales and Service Tax (SST).

    So, what does that mean? Does it mean because the tax is named differently, there is no refund for “goods related taxes” in Malaysia?
