Royal Johor Country Club
A host of several big championships, Royal Johor Country Club was inaugurated as a nine-hole course in the 1960s, and had its second nine opened in the 70s. Today, this tract is one of Johor’s most popular courses, mainly due to its challenging layout.
It plays to a par-72 and measures 6,964 yards off the championship tee boxes. And of the two nines, the inward stretch is marginally more difficult than the opening nine.
The third hole, a short par-3, is a real gem. With the thick jungle in the background, it features a two-tiered figure-8 like shaped green that is guarded by a cluster of bunkers.
The closing hole is another tough test, stretching 452 yards, this uphill par-4 is not often reached in regulation and has dampened the spirits of many who have not treated it with the respect it deserves.
