I was booked into the Mahkota Guest House for 3 nights for 2 single rooms. On arrival found it was not as I thought a Guest House should be( having stayed at the Government Guest House in Malacca in 1970). the place was isolated in a warehouse type of area ,not a shop or food place in sight and not as advertised in the heart of Malacca.
The electrical wiring had three plugs on one switch in the lounge/kitchen area, the refrigerater was black inside with mould. My bedroom had bare electrical wires coming out of the wall near the light switch , very safe place??. My bedroom window looked into a concrete wall 3 feet away. On seeing these problems we told the office we would only stay two nights.
We went to the office on the second day to say we were not staying three nights as booked and paid in advance for and we were informed to leave by noon. We had less than an hour to pack and leave and no refund, We packed in a hurry as there was no other people in the area and all places were closed, there was no traffic or taxis. The place was so creepy we walked two blocks in a hurry to the Holiday Inn to hail a taxi and went to the Fenix hotel where we were able to get accommodation for two nights.
Malaysia Tourist Authority please ckeck accommodation before you advertise it in your acccommodation Guide, it looks Ok, sounds Ok but it is not a Guest House but ROOMS to let.
