Low Yat Plaza was voted the best IT Mall by readers of HWM Malaysia, Plaza Low Yat is the place to be for anything related to computer software, hardware, electrical & electronics products, audio-visual equipment, handphones, digital cameras, gadgets and gizmos etc. Its numerous retail outlets and spacious IT Hypermarket enable shoppers to shop and make their selections in comfort.

The ranges of products offered are extensive. Anything from a mouse to the most high-end-liquid-cooled system, you name it, they have got it. All it takes is a bit of hunting around. It is interesting to note that while most shops do offer similar products, there are some vendors that bring in that something different that sets one vendor apart from the other.

There is also a 24 hours broadband Internet Cafe (the largest in KL) with 204 terminals and Zen-inspired decor. For dining pleasure, there are also a few restaurants and cafes in the mall - Sushi King, Coffee Bean, Starbucks and a food court.

Beware: With all that said, there are pros and cons in buying stuff here. Pros being that you get very attractive prices and an extensive range of a single product. Cons would be in that if you do decide on buying non-branded stuff (OEM), you run the risk of the product dying on you in less than a year or so. If you are local, that is fine, but if you are a tourist, chances are you are not going to come back just to get a replacement on an RM 80 graphic card. Then again, it is so cheap you might find it negligible.

At the end of the day, it is still a very ideal place for locals and foreigners to shop for computer-related stuff here as it is very accessible and cheap. Just remember that it is better to pay in cash unless you do not mind being charge an extra 2% to 3% on top of the price of the product when using credit card. Happy hunting!

There’s a “new” place located at Ara Damansara called NZX Commercial Centre. it is Malaysia’s first covered and air-conditioned boulevard. Pretty “cool” (pardon the pun) place with lots of small outlets selling things from sweets to books, to a mini pub to clothes to handphones to PCs…you name it, most probably it will have it!
Surrounding the place are 3-storey shoplots. It is slowly being occupied. Initially it was not too interesting as there were only the above outlets.
Now more shops are opening. There are coffee-shops, mamak restaurants, Japanese food, a number of cafes, pet shop, internet cafes, pubs, clinics, entertainment outlet called MIXX and others.
It is becoming a “happening” place and more people are moving in as well as more customers are seen browsing and buying!
