The list mainly caters to expensive pricing yet small portion of food which will taste just the same in any other restaurant.
With the influx of many foreign subcontinent workers, I have able to taste some of the best North Indian dishes here. Apart from some of the restaurant said above, tourist or locals alike should check out the above mentioned Saffron Restaurant, delicious punjabi cooking. Small, family owned restuarnt in bangsar.
Then there is this new fantastic Pakistani restaurant in Cyberjaya called Khayam e basera. The food is simply amazing. Homey, tasty, and as authentic as it can get. The uncle who cooks there must be some chef in some hotel when he was back in Pak. I have my dinner at least twice a week there. The portion is good for two and the most expensive item (fish n chips i think) is priced at RM12. You can have a hearty, delicious meal for such a cheap price. I have tried a couple of their dishes, I still cant decide my fav because it taste just as good as the other.
Also there is a small Pakistani stall tucked in The Mall shopping centre, next to Legend Hotel, KL. At Level 4. Lahorey serves basic pakistani food, but really tasty and cheap. 2 pieces of shahi kebab with condiments for RM3. You cant get better than tht.
Its just a matter of taste, not the restaurant or the price. High price doesnt guarantee delicious food. Among the list above, Bombay Palace is a definite visit for highend north indian cuisine.

I also visited the bombay spice in pavillion. I will not compain much about food although not exotice but okie. but i feel it was a bit expensive for its class. 6 of us ate and bill came ot about 200 MYR which i feel is on higher end for this restaurant.

More worrying for me was somehtgn else.. As we were eating the owner or cashier came to pick up our spoon and forks.. I wasnot sure what was happening he picked few and as i notice he put them back into the washed spoons and forks list. can you imagine he would give the same spoon and forks back wthout washing just because he assumed we did not use it :(

Also we were not done with our orders and had order some more item as we orderd he came and started picking rest of the spoon and forks and i got angry at him and he said since i ate with hand he assumed i will use hand for rice also and never appologised for it. he never came back also.

I will never eat here again

Why isn't Bombay Spice on this list? Just found out that it belongs to the same company as Spice of India. So, if you want Spice of India quality food at slightly more manageable prices, then I'd recommend Bombay Spice. I think they charge you that little bit extra for atmosphere at Spice of India although Bombay Spice isn't too bad either. Definitely not high-falutin Upper East Side class but it feels a whole lot more authentic with the Chefs in the aquarium looking kitchen flipping dough and chopping chicken while you eat and ogle.

Bombay Palace and d'tandoor are nice places to visit. Passage thru India is exotic. Bharath's is closed. Analakshmi is closed and..... The Taj is cool too. Spice Garden is good.
My choice is The Taj and Passage thru India

Hi,

Your top three restaurants listed have closed down. Bharat curryhouse closed down 5 years ago. In its place is arguably the best indian restaurant in town called Spice of India. Spice of India currently has two outlets, one in KLCC and the other Pavilion. (www.spiceofindia.com.my) Its upmarket but the food is good.

D'tandoor food is mainly cooked in a central kitchen and therefore you would not get fresh, authentically prepared indian food.

Passage thru India is overly priced for a standalone restaurant.

Bombay Palace on Jalan Tun Razak is still one of the better north indian restaurants around as well.

Another new indian food brand that has recently been launched is Bombay Spice, this is located both in the Pavilion, level 1 , 3 shops down JCO donuts and Bombay Spice Gardens, its on the lower ground walkway, connecting Midvalley to Gardens.

Hope i see the review here updated. Thanks.
